For those Bruins fans who were ordering up their Stanley Cup parade tickets after a 5-2 start: you might want to hang up the phone.
Bruins appeared to have been in a time machine last night - sent back to the year 2006. The Montreal Canadiens hammered the Bruins 6-1 at Bell Centre.
Does this sound familar:
The goaltending was terrible. Manny Fernandez faced only 20 shots on the night, giving up six goals, with a few being of the soft variety.
The Bruins did not look to put a pounding on anyone in the later stages of the blowout. They certainly weren’t very tough to play against - their self proclaimed mission statement for the 07/08 season. Would have been nice to see a little more emotion from them in the 3rd period.
The offense did manage to muster up 32 shots on Cristobal Huet, who was easily the better of the two goalies on Monday night. For the Bruins to have any success this season, they need scoring contributions from the likes of Peter Schaefer and Glen Murray - so far they have been MIA, scoring a grand total of two goals between both of them.
Milan Lucic was probably Boston’s best forward, showing lots of energy throughout the blowout and atleast the one player who pretended to care.
Next game will be an important one for this team to forget what happened in Montreal.
