Not a blockbuster deal at all, but one that makes perfect sense for Boston.

Today the Bruins sent the under-performing Brandon Boshenski packing to Anaheim in return for physical, stay-at-home defenseman Shane Hnidy and a 2008 6th rounder.

Hnidy has one goal and two assists in 33 games for the Ducks this season. In 369 career games, he has scored 10 goals, 30 assists and picked up 479 minutes in penalties.

Bochenski appeared in 20 games this season for Boston, picking up six assists. Bochenski was acquired by Boston in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks on February 3, 2007 for his ability to put the puck in the net - he hasnt shown that in Boston.

Hnidy will fill in for the injured Andrew Alberts on the Bruins blue line and will battle for a roster spot for the remainder of the season, barring another trade.
