The National Hockey League suspended Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Randy Jones for two games as a result of his nasty hit on Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron.

Jones sent Bergeron crashing face-first into the end boards during the Flyers 2-1 win over Boston last Saturday.

While no information has been released on the severity of the concussion, it has been suggested that Bergeron suffered a Grade 3 concussion, which should keep him out of action for a minimum of one month.

Jones, who will lose $5,614.98 in funds from the suspension, offered these words after the game on Saturday, “Words really can’t express the way that I feel right now. I am very apologetic for the hit and what I did.”

I’m not convinced two games sends the right message across the league.  Let the debates begin.
